Its traditions rooted in antiquity, Indian Classical music remains a vibrant force in the world today. This original program features the U.S. premiere of Daniel Hope's acclaimed East meets West performed with Gaurav Mazumdar. This project pays tribute to the masterful ragas composed and recorded by Ravi Shankar and Yehudi Menuhin during the late 1960s, featuring new works by Shankar's star disciple, Gaurav Mazumdar. The concert also features India?s two finest young sarod players, Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash (sons of the great Ustad Amjad Ali Khan), extending the modern Indian musical tradition in a first-time collaboration with Derek Trucks. Crossing borders and breaking down barriers, this program reveals sublime aspects of the world in which we live.
